KZ Okpala

  • Kz Okpala
    F, Miami Heat

Kz Okpala's offensive game has come a long way since January according to Heat Vice President and Assistant GM, Adam Simon.

Okpala is already viewed as an NBA-ready defender, and once his offensive game is up to speed the Heat will have a hard time not getting him into the rotation. He spent 20 games in the G League and five with the Heat before the suspension slowed down his progression in 2020. Okpala got off to a slow start due to injuries, and a trade on draft day took away his chance to play in summer league. While this season is unlikely to amount to anything, Okpala is someone to watch in deeper leagues next year.

The Heat have assigned KZ Okpala to the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the G League.

The Heat want to get him regular playing time which hasn't happened much in the NBA. Okpala was recalled last Wednesday and scored seven points on Friday against the Kings.

The Heat have recalled KZ Okpala from the G League ahead of Wednesday's game against the Clippers.

With the Heat dealing with uncertainty regarding Justise Winslow, Tyler Herro and Meyers Leonard, the team needed some more depth. Okpala is not on the fantasy radar.

  • Bam Adebayo
    C, Miami Heat

Bam Adebayo (right groin contusion) is being listed as available to play against the Hawks on Tuesday.

Feel free to get Adebayo back into your lineups. Adebayo has been fantastic this year with top-50/40 value in 9/8 cat leagues. KZ Okpala (Achilles) will also be available for the game.

KZ Okpala (left Achilles) has been upgraded to questionable ahead of Tuesday's game.

Okpala has been out since late October, and there's probably no room for him in the rotation anyway. He's not on the radar but this upgrade is good news.

KZ Okpala (left Achilles) will remain sidelined on Sunday.

Okpala has appeared in two games so far in his rookie season, but he's been out with his Achilles issue since the end of October. Fantasy managers shouldn't be waiting on him at all.

  • Derrick Jones Jr.
    SF, Miami Heat

Derrick Jones (left groin/hip) is out for Friday's game, as is KZ Okpala (left Achilles).

The Heat have yet to issue an update on either player's condition, and they'll both be considered out indefinitely until one comes along. Jones is the only one who has a shot at serious fantasy value this year.

Derrick Jones Jr. (left hip) and KZ Okpala (left Achilles) are both being listed as out ahead of Wednesday's matchup against the Rockets.

Jones Jr. has the talent to play himself into a role if he can get himself healthy and stay that way. Okpala has only appeared in two games this season and remains off the fantasy radar.

KZ Okpala (left Achilles) will not be available for Monday's game.

Okpala has appeared in just two games so far this season and won't be in the rotation, even when healthy.

  • Derrick Jones Jr.
    SF, Miami Heat

Derrick Jones Jr. (hip) and KZ Okpala (Achilles) will not travel with the team on their upcoming road trip over the weekend as they face the Bulls and Sixers.

Jones has at times been a part of the rotation for the Heat while Okpala has barely seen the court. Jones has showed tremendous athleticism but it seems unlikely that he can produce fantasy value worthy of standard league value as the Heat will have many mouths to feed when they are fully healthy.

Derrick Jones (hip) is being listed as out ahead of Wednesday's game with the Cavs.

Jones just can't get and stay healthy this season with only four games under his belt. When Jones does return he has defensive upside with some shooting, but his role is limited in a crowded frontcourt. KZ Okpala (Achilles) is also ruled for Wednesday's game. Both can be left on the waiver wire.

Derrick Jones Jr. will be absent yet again on Saturday, as he continues to deal with a left hip injury.

DJJ is a lost cause at this point. A lot would have to change on the Heat for Jones to discover a decent role at this point. Perhaps he will surprise us at the end of the year, but the Heat are playing winning basketball already, and it is unlikely they turn to DJJ when the team is already performing above expectations. Kz Okpala is also out tonight due to an ongoing achilles injury.

KZ Okpala will not play on Thursday due to left Achilles tendinitis.

Okpala hasn't played since late October. He has defensive upside but is not worthy of fantasy consideration at this juncture.

KZ Okpala will remain out on Tuesday due to left Achilles tendinitis.

Okpala has hardly played even when he has been available. There is no reason to give him a second look at this point.

KZ Okpala (left Achilles tendinitis) will remain out on Sunday as the Heat take on the Rockets.

Okpala has logged a total of three minutes so far this season so he is off the fantasy radar. If it wasn't for the injury, the Heat may actually have a need for him with Jimmy Butler and Justise Winslow questionable and Derrick Jones out for Sunday. Okpala will likely get his chance eventually if the Achilles injury isn't too serious.
