Newly signed acquisition, Luc Mbah a Moute, has yet to join his team for the NBA restart.

Head coach Mike D'Antoni expects to have Mbah a Moute at some point and it remains unclear as to why he has yet to join his teammates in Orlando. His teammate, James Harden joined the Rockets five days later than the rest of the squad and is expected to practice on Thursday. The team is also without Russell Westbrook, who announced that he tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday. Mbah a Moute will not hold much fantasy value as he will act as a depth piece for the Rockets as they look to make a deep playoff run.

Luc Mbah a Moute has officially signed his deal with the Rockets, per Shams Charania.

And with that, Houston has its replacement for Thabo Sefolosha. Mbah a Moute may find minutes as a defensive specialist in certain matchups, especially with the Rockets going all-in on small ball, but there probably won't be enough for any sort of fantasy value. He missed 78 games last season due to knee troubles.

Shams Charania reported that the Houston Rockets plan to sign Luc Mbah a Moute for the Orlando restart.

Thabo Sefolosha announced on Wednesday that he will not participate in the Orlando restart, leaving the Rockets with a need for an additional three-and-D wing. Mbah a Moute played 61 games for the Rockets in 2017-18 and averaged 25.6 minutes per game, so he is familiar with their system. Mbah a Moute will be a low-usage player that the Rockets can plug in at the end of their rotation and will provide them more depth, which could be imperative for teams given the COVID-19 concerns surrounding this Orlando restart.

According to Kelly Iko of The Athletic, the Rockets worked out Luc Mbah a Moute on Thursday.

Mbah a Moute missed a whopping 78 games due to left knee issues last season and hasn't been heard from since. The Rockets continue to search for extra depth with their all-small roster, and Mbah a Moute would be a familiar face having played 61 games for Houston in the 2017-18 season. Even if he does end up on a roster, with the Rockets or someone else, Mbah a Moute will have no fantasy relevance.

Clippers forward Luc Mbah a Moute intends to return and play in his first NBA game since October on Friday after an unexpectedly long recovery from left knee soreness that saw the veteran miss the last 62 games.

Mbah a Moute had hoped to play on Monday against the Lakers until the plan changed following his pregame warmup, and second-year forward Johnathan Motley was activated instead. The team will approach the return with an expected amount of caution and Mbah a Moute will be on a minutes restriction making him an unappealing option in fantasy formats.
