Monta Ellis

    PF, Invalid Team

Monta Ellis and Amar’e Stoudemire both want a shot to get back in the league and did a workout together in Las Vegas on Monday night.

There were approximately 12 teams attending the workout, but it’s a long shot either of them can land a roster spot as teams are just finishing up their rosters and most are looking for younger players they can develop to put at the end of their bench. Ellis, now age 33, has been out of the league for two seasons, while Stoudemire, who will turn 37 this November, has not played in the league the last three years and has been spending time in Israel and in the Big Three league.

  • Monta Ellis
    G, Free Agent

Per Jordan Shultz of ESPN, Monta Ellis is scheduled to work out privately for at least five NBA teams on July 8th as he attempts an NBA comeback.

Ellis last played in the NBA for the Pacers in the 2016-17 season. Before his underwhelming two-year stint in Indiana, Ellis averaged over 19 ppg as a dynamic dual guard. Ellis will be 34 in October, and it's hard to believe there's much, if any, left in the tank, but maybe he can give a few minutes a night as a deep-reserve for a contending team.

  • Monta Ellis
    G, Indiana Pacers

The Wolves recently had Monta Ellis, Brandon Rush and Brandon Paul in for a workout.

Paul played with the Spurs last season while Ellis and Rush last appeared in the 2016-17 season. The team could use a little backcourt scoring to replace Jamal Crawford but it's highly unlikely that any of the three would see much action if they did get a contract. It'd take a series of miracles for Ellis, Rush or Paul to become fantasy-relevant this year.
