  • LaMelo Ball
    PG, International

The Knicks have LaMelo Ball as their top-rated point guard for the 2020 NBA Draft.

The Knicks have a need at point guard and Ball is considered the point guard with the highest upside in this draft. He had poor shooting numbers in his 12 games in the NBL this past season, shooting .250 from deep and .375 from the field. He is a gifted passer though and averaged 6.8 assists per game in 31.3 minutes, adding 17.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals. If Ball was drafted by the Knicks, he could help younger players RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson get easier looks. Ball will likely be given an opportunity to run the offense by the team that drafts him and he could put up big assists numbers. He also has an impressive steal rate in limited play in Australia, but his shooting percentages are a big concern.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Knicks and newly minted team president Leon Rose seem to be in good shape if their preference is to hire Tom Thibodeau and move on from current head coach Mike Miller.

Thibodeau, who has not coached since he was fired by the T-Wolves midway through last season, seems likely to be a sought-after commodity this offseason. The Nets are known to be looking for the right fit at head coach to guide their championship push with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant in the fold and the Rockets' Mike D'Antoni will also be available for interviews this offseason, barring an extension with the Rockets. The Knicks would like to avoid question marks as far as the coaching staff is concerned so they can focus on building a contending roster. Only time will tell if Rose believes that Thibodeau is the man for the job.

Scott Perry will remain in place as the Knicks GM under President Leon Rose.

Perry is on a one year deal and has a good relationship with Rose. They look forward to rebuilding the Knicks together, but the one year deal may put pressure on Perry to show improvements immediately, which could be detrimental to a long-term rebuild.

  • Elfrid Payton
    PG, New York Knicks

Elfrid Payton scored 11 points while picking up 12 assists on Wednesday night, rounding out his line with five rebounds, four steals and a single block.

Payton looks good as the team's facilitator recently and put up some solid defensive numbers as well. A beneficiary of Payton's passing was RJ Barrett who scored 26 points to go with five rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block of his own.

    SF, New York Knicks

RJ Barrett had 16 points (5-of-15 FG, 1-for-5 3PT)), five rebounds, two assists and four steals in 29 minutes on Tuesday vs. the Wizards.

Barrett has battled through jump-shot woes all season long and tonight was no different. He was drafted in a large percentage of fantasy leagues in the fall but has simply failed to produce fantasy-worthy numbers. Barrett is only a rookie and he will undoubtedly get better. For now, however, he belongs on the wire and is only a fringe streaming option for fantasy managers.

  • RJ Barrett
    SF, New York Knicks

R.J. Barrett scored a career-high 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting with five rebounds, five dimes, a steal and three triples in Monday's 125-123 upset win over the Rockets.

Barrett played one of his best games in terms of shot selection, but the free throws are still hampering his value. He's going to put up good volume on counting stats, but the efficiency issues are always going to loom over his head this season.

  • RJ Barrett
    SF, New York Knicks

RJ Barrett had an encouraging game on Monday, outside of his 3-for-7 performance from the free throw line, putting up 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting with six rebounds, three assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes in a loss to the Rockets.

Barrett has been pretty terrible for most of this season, and it's going to take quite a few more decent games before he can be trusted. But if he starts to make some improvements, as many rookies do around this time, he could earn back some minutes and become a useful fantasy player in many leagues.

  • RJ Barrett
    SF, New York Knicks

RJ Barrett scored 17 points (8-for-19 shooting), four rebounds and two assists in Friday's 98-106 loss to the pacers.

Barrett missed all five of his three-point attempts and two of his three free-throw attempts but still did enough damage inside the arc to lead the Knicks in scoring. There really is nothing to see here as Barrett will struggle to put up relevant production even with a ton of minutes.

  • RJ Barrett
    SF, New York Knicks

RJ Barrett had 27 points, six rebounds, five assists and chipped in three steals in the Rising Stars game Friday against Team USA.

He had a decent night shooting the ball, going 11-for-17 from the floor, although he missed all four of the triples he attempted. Barrett's fantasy output has really been disappointing so far this season. He ranks outside the top-300 and fantasy managers, if you've managed to hold on to him all the way to this point, should be hoping the Knicks decide to really commit to letting their young guys loose after the All Star break.

  • RJ Barrett
    SF, New York Knicks

RJ Barrett was not able to shake off his shooting slump on Wednesday, going 5-for-16 from the field for 16 points, five rebounds and nothing else of note.

Barrett is still not yet ready to take up the mantle of carrying the Knicks alongside Julius Randle. And while it's been a rough rookie campaign for Barrett, he does possess the gifts to make an impact later on, making him more of a dynasty project at this stage.

  • RJ Barrett
    SF, New York Knicks

RJ Barrett was reinserted into the Knicks' starting lineup on Saturday but wound up being a huge disappointment as he managed just three points on 1-of-8 shooting, two rebounds and two assists in 21 minutes.

That was a nasty stinker. Barrett's rookie season has been a tumultuous one from a fantasy and real-life standpoint, to say the least. His inefficient scoring have made his high draft selection look questionable at times. But then again he's with the Knicks, so it may not be entirely his fault anyway. Still, he's now just a deep-league hold for his good games.

RJ Barrett scored 12 points in 18 minutes off the bench on Thursday as he made his return from a sprained right ankle.

Barrett came off the bench and at least put up some points in his restricted action. Reggie Bullock has been starting for the last few games but hasn't taken advantage of Barrett's absence. He matched Barrett's 12 points in this game. Now that Marcus Morris has been traded out to the opposite coast, we might see more Barrett down the stretch.

RJ Barrett (right ankle sprain) will play and come off the bench for Thursday's contest vs. the Magic.

Barrett will come off the bench and will likely face a minute-restriction in his first game back after missing a little more than two weeks of action. The Knicks traded away their leading scorer, Marcus Morris, on Thursday which could create more opportunity for Barrett moving forward. Barrett is not a standard league fantasy player in his rookie season due to his poor efficiency.

RJ Barrett is officially questionable to play in Thursday's game against the Magic as he continues to nurse a sprained right ankle.

Barrett is in jeopardy of missing his 10th straight game on Thursday. He was able to participate in practice on Wednesday and so if he doesn't return on Thursday, a return appears to be in the near future. Continue to monitor the news ahead of tip-off on Thursday as we will learn more.

RJ Barrett (right ankle sprain) practiced on Wednesday and has not been ruled out of Thursday's game.

Damyean Dotson could see his role diminish if Barrett is able to face the Magic. Barrett owners should keep an eye on his status for Thursday. The third overall pick has averaged 14.1 points and 5.2 rebounds so far.
