  • Caris LeVert
    PG-SG, Brooklyn Nets

Caris Levert led the Nets over the Lakers on Saturday 91-77, scoring 22 points to go with four rebounds, five assists and three steals in 23 minutes.

Levert was questionable for this game after getting poked in the eye on Thursday but that didn't slow him down as put on a show, shooting 8-of-11 from the field and 3-of-4 from downtown. Taurean Prince added 14 points, four rebounds, two assists, a steal and four triples in 21 minutes off the bench as Rodions Kurucs got the start in this one without much to show on the stat sheet, also playing 21 minutes.

Rodions Kurucs is up nearly 20 pounds from a year ago and is noticeably bigger across the shoulders and upper chest according to Billy Reinhardt of NetsDaily.

As a rookie, Kurucs averaged 8.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 0.9 triples, 0.7 steals and 0.4 blocks in 20.5 minutes for top-250 value. The Nets are currently thin at power forward and he should get even more playing time this season with Kevin Durant out and the team moving on from Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Jared Dudley. He could not speak in regards to his September arrest because he said he doesn't even know himself what is going to happen. There is a chance he may be kept out of action until the case is resolved or even face additional suspension.

Coach Kenny Atkinson is unsure about Rodions Kurucs' availability to begin the season.

Kurucs is still dealing with his arrest from earlier in September and that might keep him from suiting up for the foreseeable future. He was expected to take on a larger role this season but that might be put on hold until his case is resolved.

Rodions Kurucs was relatively quiet in Brooklyn's 93-85 win over Orlando, scoring 14 points to go with three rebounds, a steal and two blocks.

Though he has a solid season as a second-round pick last year, Kurucs has failed to distinguish himself much in Summer League play. When it comes to his fantasy outlook, the best thing he has going for him at the moment is that the Nets are pretty thin at the PF on their roster with Wilson Chandler really being the only other guy on the roster who has regularly played the position. Kurucs has potential to play decent minutes this season.

Rodions Kurucs grabbed four steals in an 88-85 win over the Wizards Monday in Summer League play.

That was the good news from Kurucs' line. Seven points and five turnovers in 27 minutes is less encouraging. He's shown that he can handle big minutes in the NBA, but the fact that his team is getting better around him diminishes his fantasy outlook. In a similar boat is his teammate Dzanan Musa, who had just eight points but six rebounds and five assists in his 23 minutes. As the Nets are molded into a true title contender, Kurucs and Musa seem like either role players or trade bait.

Rodions Kurucs scored 15 points in Sunday's win over Croatia, going 6-of-8 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers in 23 minutes of work.

Kurucs did what he should've against inferior competition, and it's going to be an important season for him with Kevin Durant looming in the distance. Kurucs needs to put his stamp on a rotation spot this year before things get even more crowded down the line. Jarrett Allen struggled a bit with four points on 1-of-5 shooting but did add seven boards, a steal and two blocks. Dzanan Musa grinded his way to 15 points despite shooting 3-of-10 overall. We'll see how the Nets fare against NBA competition in their next game.

Rodions Kurucs and Dzanan Musa were ejected in Game 5 on Tuesday.

Kurucs and Musa were involved in a few frustration shoves with Greg Monroe and Jonah Bolden, who were also ejected on Tuesday. The league will look at the incident and see if fines or suspensions are merited. Kurucs and Musa are eliminated from the playoffs, so they should have no impact this season.

Rodions Kurucs did not play in Saturday's Game 4 loss to the Sixers.

The second round rookie started the first three games of the series but was a DNP-CD in this one. We'll see if he can get into Game 5 – or any games after if needed – but there's a chance his season is over. If it's over, it was an impressive first season for the second rounder and the Nets may have a real rotation piece going forward.

Speaking to reporters after Game 2's loss to the Sixers Kurucs said, “I don’t like what he said in the media about me. I want to let him know my name. I’ll play hard, I’ll go at him and I’m not scared of him.”

Kurucs is not happy with Ben Simmons referring to him as, "the other kid." This series has quickly gotten chippy and the intensity will look to pick up even more ahead of Game 3 on Thursday.
