Tarik Black

Fantasy News

  • Tarik Black
    C/F, Houston Rockets

Tarik Black has signed a one-year deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel.

Black certainly has the skills to make an NBA roster but it's likely he chose to go overseas for a bigger check or for more playing time. It's very possible he finds his way back to the league at some point.

    C/F, Houston Rockets

Sportando is reporting that free agent big man Tarik Black and EuroLeague powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv have reached an agreement on a deal.

Maccabi was after Okaro White the last few weeks but he reportedly wanted to continue pursuing an NBA contract so the Israeli team focused on Tarik Black instead. The former Jayhawk will be playing in Europe for the first time in his career after spending the last four seasons in the NBA with the Lakers and the Rockets.

  • Tarik Black
    C/F, Houston Rockets

Tarik Black could be headed to Maccabi Tel Aviv if he can't find a job in the NBA, per Sportando's Orazio Cauchi.

Black was a member of the Rockets last season but only averaged 10.5 mpg in 51 games. The big man hasn't generated a ton of interest to this point in free agency and a year abroad could help him pump up his value. Maccabi was rumored to be interested in the recently-released Okaro White but they'll only end up picking one or the other.

  • Tarik Black
    C, Houston Rockets

Tarik Black double-doubled against the Kings in Wednesday's season finale, scoring 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting with 11 rebounds and two blocks in 38 minutes.

Black saw action in just 51 games and averaged 10.5 minutes per contest, finishing well outside of the top-300.

  • Tarik Black
    PF/C, Houston Rockets

Tarik Black is dealing with back stiffness and is questionable for Saturday's game against the Thunder.

Even if he's available, Black is not a regular member of the rotation. Even in silly season fantasy owners can do better.

  • Nene
    PF/C, Houston Rockets

Nene (sore lower back) will not play on Friday against the Suns.

This is likely a maintenance day for Nene, but will allow Tarik Black to get extra run off the bench. Black probably won’t be usable unless the Suns get get blown out really early and Clint Capela gets some in-game rest on the bench.

  • Nene
    PF/C, Houston Rockets

Nene drew the start on Tuesday with Clint Capela resting and was able to deliver 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in 21 minutes against the Bulls.

Not bad from Nene, who can be a reliable source of low-end big man lines like this when the playing time is there. Of course, that's almost never the case in Houston this season, and the veteran can be left on all waiver wires accordingly. He's only worth looking at when Capela gets scratched, which could happen a few more times this season. Tarik Black posted seven points, five rebounds, a steal and a block in only 12 minutes off the bench, so clearly the Rockets weren't lacking for production from the center spot tonight.

  • James Harden
    SG, Houston Rockets

James Harden and Clint Capela will get the night off when the Rockets face the Bulls on Tuesday.

That’s going to kill fantasy owners but it’s not too surprising given their comfortable standing atop the Western Conference. Eric Gordon and Gerald Green will handle Harden’s minutes while the Rockets will replace Capela with a much larger committee. Ryan Anderson and P.J. Tucker will get extra minutes if the team opts to go small while Nene, Tarik Black and potential callups Chinanu Onuaku or Zhou Qi will get time when they opt for a larger presence. Outside of Gordon and Green you’ll be rolling dice, though Nene would be next in line if we had to pick.

  • Clint Capela
    C, Houston Rockets

Clint Capela has been ruled out for Thursday’s game against the Clippers.

Capela was originally called probable for this game but this has obviously changed. Tarik Black will most likely draw the start, while Nene and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute will help pick up the slack as well.

  • Ryan Anderson
    PF, Houston Rockets

Ryan Anderson (hip soreness) will mis his ninth consecutive game on Thursday vs. the Clippers.

Anderson has played just 21.8 mpg over his last five healthy games and with a lot of depth in the Rockets frontcourt that trend is likely here to stay. The big man is a 3-point specialist who can nab 4-5 boards in 16-team leagues. When he returns P.J. Tucker and Tarik Black will probably lose 10 minutes each or so.

  • Clint Capela
    C, Houston Rockets

Clint Capela had a quiet game with eight boards, two blocks and four points in 23 minutes on Sunday against the Mavericks as the Rockets won 105-82.

Since the All-Star break Capela has been in a mini-slump with an across the board reduction in everything except for steals. The playing time is still there though so expect Capela to get back to basics in the coming games. Tarik Black logged 22 minutes on Sunday, the most minutes he’s played in 2018, finishing out the final 17 minutes of the game which contributed to Capela’s low minutes.

  • Clint Capela
    C, Houston Rockets

Clint Capela, initially listed as questionable, has now been ruled out of Monday’s game against the Jazz because of an illness.

An illness will also keep Eric Gordon out of action tonight so hopefully that doesn’t spread further around the locker room. Tarik Black will start at center and is worth a look as a cheap DFS option, while Nene could see extra work off the bench if Houston doesn’t want to dedicate too much time to smaller lineups. Capela isn’t expected to be out long but owners will need to turn to plan B tonight.

  • Clint Capela
    C, Houston Rockets

Clint Capela is being listed as questionable for Monday’s game with an illness.

The Rockets could be shorthanded in the frontcourt tonight with Brandan Wright already ruled out because of right knee soreness. It could be a big day for the Jazz and their talented front line if Capela does sit, as only Nene and Tarik Black could be called on to play a more traditional center role. Houston would probably have to go small if that were the case, but either way Capela is the only one of the bunch with substantial fantasy value.

  • Brandan Wright plans to sign with Rockets

Shams Charania reported that Brandan Wright plans to sign with Houston once he's bought out by the Grizzlies. That'd have him battling Nene and Tarik Black for backup minutes behind Clint Capela, so you can…
