Thomas Robinson has reached an agreement with the Sichuan Blue Whales where he will replace Maciej Lampe, according to Emiliano Carchia of Sportando.

Robinson played with the Spurs in the Summer League but he couldn’t materialize his performance into a training camp deal and he will head back overseas. The No. 5 overall pick by the Kings in the 2012 NBA draft, he averaged 21.9 points and 13.6 rebounds playing in China last year.

    C-F, San Antonio Spurs

Thomas Robinson scored 10 points with 11 rebounds in Friday night's loss to the Hawks.

Robinson was dealing with foul trouble, otherwise his final line could've been even better. It's been quite the fall from grace for the former fifth overall pick, but it was good to see a rare solid game from him.

Thomas Robinson will be joining the Spurs for Summer League.

The former 5th overall pick has bounced around the league and recently spent time with Maine in the G-League. Robinson last appeared in the NBA in 2016-17 and has stints with the Kings, Rockets, Blazers, Sixers, Nets and Lakers under his belt. Perhaps this will be the stint that establishes his place in the league.

Thomas Robinson has signed a non-guaranteed deal with the Beijing Fly Dragons of the CBA.

After playing 48 games with the Nets in 2016-17, Robinson participated in the Hawks’ training camp this offseason but was cut before the season started. At 27 years old, former fifth overall pick surely still has aspirations of making it back in the NBA but it has been difficult for him to adapt to the modern game with a lack of a three-point shot even though he is a very strong rebounder. Robinson joins Stephon Marbury in what is likely his farewell tour this season.

Thomas Robinson’s first priority during training camp and preseason with the Hawks is to earn a roster spot.

Robinson played for the Russian club Khimki last season, averaging 8.5 points and 5.7 rebounds in 15.8 minutes, after spending time on six NBA teams in five years. He rejoined first-year Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce, who coached him briefly in 2015 with the Sixers and he will pushing for a job with one of the youngest teams in the league.

Thomas Robison and the Hawks are expected to come to terms on a non-guaranteed contract.

The former No. 5 overall pick has struggled to latch onto a team since entering the league in 2012. Robison had a short stint with the Lakers during the 2016-17 season where he appeared in 48 games and averaged 11.2 minutes per game. Robison has always shown he has the canny ability to rebound, but lacks perimeter shooting and struggles on defense. There is no reason to target Robison on draft day.
