Thon Maker

Fantasy News

  • Markieff Morris
    PF, Detroit Pistons

Markieff Morris (undisclosed) left and headed to the locker room during the second quarter of Monday's game against the Wizards.

It is unclear what is ailing Morris at this time, but he did return from a seven-game absence over the weekend while nursing a foot injury. If this turns out to be something that will keep Morris out of the lineup, Christain Wood, Thon Maker and Sekou Doumbouya will benefit from extra minutes. Wood has the highest upside of the group when he sees the run.

  • Thon Maker
    C, Detroit Pistons

Thon Maker scored three points on 1-of-5 shooting to go with eight boards, one assist, one steal and four blocks on Thursday.

Maker closed out the OT game in Cleveland mainly due to the matchup, so we're not going to bite on him yet. The stats were nice in this one, but we've seen this before.

  • Sekou Doumbouya
    PF, Detroit Pistons

Sekou Doumbouya double-doubled in a start on Saturday with 16 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, one block and four 3-pointers.

Doumbouya started his second game in a row and exploded with a gem of a fantasy line. Doumbouya is worth a pickup in 14-team leagues and should be on the watch list on standard leagues with the trade rumors surrounding Andre Drummond. Doumbouya also outplayed Christian Wood (nine points and six rebounds in 18 minutes) and Thon Maker (two points in seven minutes).

  • Thon Maker
    C, Detroit Pistons

Thon Maker started on Monday, scoring four points on 1-of-4 shooting to go with three rebounds.

Maker started in place of Andre Drummond on Monday, but it was due to disciplinary reasons and he only played 10 minutes. There's nothing to see here.

  • Andre Drummond
    C, Detroit Pistons

Andre Drummond will come off the bench on Monday after missing shootaround.

This bumps Thon Maker to the starting lineup, but we'll see how the minutes actually shake out. Drummond owners can still deploy the double-double machine for this one.

  • Thon Maker
    C, Detroit Pistons

Thon Maker scored 15 points (4-for-9 shooting) off the bench on Friday to go along with seven rebounds, a steal and a triple across 23 minutes as the Pistons lost to the Celtics.

Maker was one of three bench players to score double digits along with Derrick Rose (14 points, four assists) and Langston Galloway (10 points, two rebounds, two triples). All three were unable to make a difference on a night where the Pistons got smoked.

  • Blake Griffin
    PF, Detroit Pistons

Blake Griffin is dealing with a sore left knee and will not play on Friday against the Celtics.

Griffin has always had a history with the injury bug, and this season is no different. He has been a headache for owners, and is well outside of the top 200. With Christian Wood also out, Markieff Morris, and Thon Maker should see the bulk of the minutes.

  • Christian Wood
    PF, Detroit Pistons

Christian Wood (left knee) will not play on Friday vs. the Celtics.

Wood has been a per-minute machine as he is just outside the top 200 in per-game value despite only averaging 15.4 minutes per-game. With Blake Griffin doubtful with a knee injury, Markieff Morris and Thon Maker will see more run while we could see a monster line from Andre Drummond.

  • Markieff Morris
    PF, Detroit Pistons

With Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond on the shelf on Monday, Markieff Morris went for 22 points (8-of-13 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), five rebounds, three assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 33 minutes in a start vs. the Wizards.

The Pistons should get back one or both member of the starting frontcourt soon, so Morris' extra minutes and shots won't likely last much longer. At that point, he'll return to minutes in the teens and standard-league irrelevance. Thon Maker also started tonight but only put up four points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal in 20 minutes.

  • Andre Drummond
    C, Detroit Pistons

Andre Drummond's status for Monday's game is uncertain due to eye inflammation.

Drummond apparently needs to test his contact lenses to see if he can play. An allergic reaction to avocado on Friday caused his eye issue. He ended up playing on Friday but could not participate on Saturday. Thon Maker and Christian Wood should get all the minutes they can handle if he's unavailable.

    C, Detroit Pistons

Thon Maker started on Saturday and scored four points to go with six rebounds and two blocks in 25 minutes.

Maker started in place of Andre Drummond (eye) and Blake Griffin left this game early with left knee soreness. Drummond should be back soon, but Maker could see more minutes if Griffin misses extended time. However, Christian Wood (11 points and 12 boards in 22 minutes on Saturday) is the more appealing option.

  • Thon Maker
    C, Detroit Pistons

Thon Maker will start in place of Andre Drummond (eye) on Saturday vs the Rockets.

Maker and Christian Wood will likely be splitting centre minutes with Andrew Drummond out. Maker got the start but Wood has the higher fantasy upside.

  • Thon Maker
    C, Detroit Pistons

Thon Maker logged 11 minutes on Friday night, producing two points, four rebounds, a steal and two blocks.

Maker and Christian Wood have been going back and forth as the primary backup big man, and tonight it was Maker's turn to take the lead. Wood also logged 11 minutes but went scoreless with two rebounds and one assist. Wood remains the higher-upside choice but Blake Griffin's return figures to bump both players out of fantasy consideration.

  • Christian Wood
    PF, Detroit Pistons

Christian Wood got a DNP on Thursday night on the second half of a back-to-back.

Not only did Wood get just four minutes in the season opener, he didn't even see the court on the second half of the back-to-back. Maybe it's worth holding on to make sure he's not going to get run, but don't hold too tight. Apparently Thon Maker is the preferred backup big for now.

  • Thon Maker
    C, Detroit Pistons

Thon Maker was the backup big man of choice on Wednesday, checking in for 16 minutes with four points, two rebounds and a block.

Maker went 0-of-3 from deep but he's a make or two away from catching some attention in deeper formats. It looks like he's ahead of Christian Wood in the pecking order for now, so deep-leaguers should roll with Maker in the short-term. We still like Wood's odds over time.
