Thon Maker

Fantasy News

  • Thon Maker
    C, Detroit Pistons

Thon Maker started and went 0-for-8 from the floor in 26 minutes on Tuesday night in a loss to the Sixers, but he did add 10 rebounds, five assists, one steal, one block, and he hit both of his free throws.

The Pistons frontcourt was extremely thin tonight, so Maker got plenty of run. He will likely be nothing more than a blocks streamer this season when it comes to fantasy.

  • Markieff Morris
    PF, Detroit Pistons

Markeiff Morris (illness) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Sixers.

Morris will join teammates Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin on the bench tonight, opening up a full allotment of minutes in the frontcourt. Christian Wood, Joe Johnson and Thon Maker should see heavy runs tonight.

  • Andre Drummond
    C, Detroit Pistons

Andre Drummond (rest) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Sixers.

This is just a planned rest day for the stud-center. Look for Thon Maker and Christian Wood to get some extra run in Drummond's place.

  • Svi Mykhailiuk
    SF, Detroit Pistons

Dwane Casey intends to have two or three bench staples but will fill the rest of the second unit situationally.

Derrick Rose and Markieff Morris figure to be locks, with Luke Kennard in that group as well if he doesn't start. That leaves players like Christian Wood, Thon Maker, Svi Mykhailiuk, Tony Snell, Joe Johnson and rookie Sekou Doumbouya battling for limited spots. The Pistons bench doesn't figure to be a great source of fantasy value, but deep-league managers may be able to play the matchup game to a certain extent — at least until Casey finds a group he likes.

  • Thon Maker
    C, Detroit Pistons

Olgun Uluc of Fox Sports Australia is reporting that the Pistons want to see a rejuvenated Thon Maker this season.

Maker showed flashes of fantasy potential as a Buck during his first couple of seasons, after spending parts of last year with the Pistons, it sounds like the coaching staff wants him to rediscover that versatility. The seven-footer has never been able to lock down a consistent role. While he is talking himself up as the next Andre Drummond, being a center that takes the ball coast-to-coast while creating for his teammates, it will not be so easy for Maker to get a steady role off the bench. He is only 22, but it is hard to imagine Maker getting enough playing time while Drummond and Blake Griffin are healthy.

  • Christian Wood
    PF, Detroit Pistons

According to Shams Charania, the Pistons have claimed Christian Wood off of waivers.

Wood will join a Pistons team that is led by Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond in the frontcourt. However, he will be able to compete for bench minutes with fellow bigs Markieff Morris and Thon Maker. The Pistons also drafted Sekou Doumbouya who is unlikely to contribute this season as he is only 18 years old.

  • Blake Griffin
    F, Detroit Pistons

Blake Griffin (left knee soreness) is listed as questionable to play in Saturday’s Game 3 vs. the Bucks.

Griffin has already missed the first two games against Milwaukee. Detroit hasn’t been very competitive without him and they’ll need the big man if they hope to even up the series at home. Thon Maker would likely get another start if Griffin isn’t able to play.

Thon Maker scored four points on 2-of-10 shooting from the field and added four rebounds and a block in 22 minutes on Sunday night.

The former top-10 pick was also 0-for-6 from downtown to round out his putrid line. The fans let him have it all night, as he had a few hard fouls against a few of the Bucks players. It goes without saying the Pistons will be hoping Blake Griffin is ready to go for Game 2 Wednesday night and the the former Buck will be able to return to his normal bench role.

Thon Maker will start Game 1 against the Bucks on Sunday for the injured Blake Griffin (knee).

Insert Michael Scott "it's happening" gif here, because ladies and gentlemen we get to see Thon Maker in a playoff revenge game. He unfortunately hasn't been that productive in place of Griffin this season and we wouldn't get our hopes up too high, but it's nice to dream sometimes.

Thon Maker started for Blake Griffin (knee soreness) in Wednesday's season finale vs. the Knicks but did not do much in his 21 minutes on the floor, mustering just two points on 0-of-3 shooting with four rebounds and one assist.

There was a glimmer of hope for Maker's upside when he was traded to the Pistons from the Bucks but at the end of the day, playing behind the likes of Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin and competing for backup minutes with a seasoned Zaza Pachulia ended up limiting Maker's opportunities to make a leap. You have to remember that he's only 21 years old and his 330/305 8/9-cat per-game value can be considered his floor. He still has a long way to go before he's fantasy-relevant but his intriguing multi-cat stat set will keep him as a cult favorite.

    F, Detroit Pistons

Thon Maker will start the Pistons' last game of the year against the Knicks.

Maker is a decent source for cash-counters when he starts, and will likely see a lot of burn tonight in a must-win scenario vs. the Knicks. He's a decent value play in DFS tonight.

Thon Maker moved back to the bench in Friday's loss to the Thunder, putting up eight points, a steal, three blocks and a 3-pointer in 17 minutes of action.

Maker's found a nice role in Detroit, and while he was overextended as a starter this type of output makes him worth a look in deeper formats or for any roster that's hunting out swats.

  • Thon Maker
    F, Detroit Pistons

Thon Maker was disappointing filling in for Blake Griffin on Wednesday with one steal, one block, four rebounds and just two points on 0-of-4 from the field.

Maker had four fouls tonight but still finished third on the team with 32 minutes played. Maker had a chance to claim a few more minutes tonight, but this performance won't do him any favors. Maker is best left on the waiver wire as Griffin can return at any time.
