The Nuggets signed Vlatko Cancar to a multi-year deal on Friday.

Cancar will be a roster depth move, but it'll be a long shot for him to crack a deep Nuggets rotation anytime soon.

The Nuggets are expected to use one of their two remaining roster spots on former second-round pick Vlatko Cancar.

Cancar has been paying in Spain for the last two seasons and it looks like the Nuggets think their draft-and-stash from 2017 is finally ready for the NBA. After three Summer League games, he is leading the team in minutes with 30.0 with somewhat underwhelming averages of 9.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.3 triples, shooting 36 percent from the field. He doesn't project to be part of the rotation initially with the Nuggets as deep as they are.

Vlatko Cancar played well on Sunday and produced 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting, adding five rebounds, two assists and two threes.

Cancar is coming off an ankle sprain which he sustained earlier in July, so it's nice to see him be able to take to the hardwood. Cancar is not a candidate to make an instant impact this season and can be left undrafted in standard-siz leagues.

Vlatko Cancar (ankle sprain) expects to play for the Nuggets Summer League team this weekend.

Cancar is a relative unknown at this point, after playing in Spain the past few seasons. It is possible he doesn't make the team and come over to the states this season, but he is a name to watch in the Summer League. If he does make the team, it'll be tough for him to crack the Nuggets deep rotation.

Jarred Vanderbilt and Vlatko Cancar were limited to non-contact work at Denver's first Summer League practice.

Both youngsters sat out for precautionary reasons, and while Cancar had his ankle elevated it does not sound like either player is dealing with anything serious. Vanderbilt offers some rebounding potential while Cancar is still a bit of a mystery after spending last season overseas.

Nuggets President of Basketball Ops Tim Connelly thinks that Vlatko Cancar could join the Nuggets this season.

Playing in Spain this season, Denver's second-rounder from the 2017 draft put up 10.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 46.4 percent from the field. Last summer he scored 9.0 points per game with the Nuggets in Summer League, and his continued growth has made an impression on Denver's top brass. "I thought he had a very big summer league last summer, he's a guy who's going to wear a Nuggets uniform sooner rather than later," said Connelly. Cancar is a name to know in deep dynasty formats but we don't envision him getting significant minutes if he makes the team.

Nuggets' draft-and-stash Vlatko Cancar will join his Summer League teammates on Tuesday.

Cancar is flying to Denver today. The 49th pick in last year's draft, Cancar is a 6'7" forward who averaged 10.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.4 triples, 0.8 steals and 0.4 blocks across three teams this past season. Denver has good depth on the wings so it'll be a while before he enters their NBA equation.
