Willie Reed put up 14 points and 12 rebounds on 5-of-11 shooting in 24 minutes in a loss to the Heat on Sunday.

Reed double-doubled in each of the first two games for the Jazz. He added one steal and two blocks to the stat sheet. He could earn a roster spot if he continues to play well.

Willie Reed had a spectacular performance in the Jazz Summer League win over the Spurs on Wednesday as he put up 14 points and 16 rebounds.

Reed has some NBA experience as he played for four different teams over the past three seasons. He did not play in the 2018-19 season, but he is hoping to make a comeback this season. He shot 7-of-13 from the field and added one steal and one block to the box score. Reed could earn a spot on an NBA roster if he keeps up this type of play.

    C, Utah Jazz

Willie Reed will be suiting up with the Jazz in Summer League.

Reed last appeared in the NBA in 2017-18, logging 39 games with the Clippers and three games with the Pistons. His star waned significantly after a strong campaign with the Heat the year prior, and a domestic violence incident also hurt his profile. Reed was the top overall selection in last year’s G-League draft and ended up posting 21.0 points, 11.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 21 contests with the Salt Lake City Stars. It’s been reported that Ekpe Udoh will pursue more lucrative offers in Europe rather than return to the Jazz, so Reed may have a real chance at a roster spot.

    C/F, Detroit Pistons

Willie Reed was among 30 free-agent participants for the Utah Jazz annual mini-camp.

Reed was part of the Jazz G-League roster last season before sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury. He was named to the Midseason All-NBA G League Team and finished the season with an average of 20.0 points, 11.2 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 1.7 blocks while shooting 66.4 percent from the field. The 29 year-old has three years of NBA experience, mainly with the Nets, Heat and Clippers and has an outside chance of making the team next year as Rudy Gobert's backup. The Jazz also currently have center Tony Bradley under contract.

    C, Chicago Bulls

Willie Reed has signed a G-League contract in hopes of making an NBA comeback.

Reed met a cool market in free agency last season and ended up being traded twice, though he never played with the Bulls before they waived him. Reed was also suspended for a domestic violence incident. He drew interest from the Wizards and Thunder this summer.

  • Ty Lawson
    G, Washington Wizards

Candace Buckner of the Washington Post reports that the Wizards have expressed interest in free agents Jamal Crawford, Luc Mbah a Moute, Dante Cunningham, Willie Reed and Ty Lawson.

That's an eclectic bunch. Lawson joined the Wiz for the playoffs last season and would only be a low-minute backup. Crawford would give them some much needed scoring punch while Mbah a Moute and Cunningham would vastly improve their forward group by adding a little bit of defensive toughness to the mix. Reed would just be a depth center add, as it's highly unlikely he could unseat incumbent Ian Mahinmi after his nightmare season. None of these players will be fantasy options, though Crawford would come the closest if you squinted at it for a long time.
