Zhou Qi scored just eight points on 3-of-8 shooting and added seven rebounds, as China suffered a devastating 72-59 loss to Venezuela.

Playing in what was probably the easiest group in the tournament, China lost to Poland and Venezuela and will now compete for the best possible seeding. Yi Jianlian added 11 points and eight rebounds but it wasn’t enough as the more experienced Venezuelans never really lost control of the game.

Zhou Qi has signed a deal with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers of the CBA.

Qi played sparringly with the Rockets in 2017-2018 and saw all of one minute of court time in 2018-2019. He has an interesting skillset but is too unpolished to see reps at the NBA level. He will get opportunities to develop his game in the CBA, and could potentially find his way back into the league down the road.

The Rockets have waived Zhou Qi.

Qi has a fun skillset as a center who can protect the rim and bomb away from deep but he simply hasn't developed as the Rockets would've hoped. They need immediate help given their roster core and Qi's spot can be better-served by adding a player who is more than a pure project. He figures to get some nibbles on the open market but it's possible he heads overseas to get more substantial playing time.

Zhou Qi (left ankle sprain) is listed as probable to play on Monday.

Well, he's probable to be available. He's fourth on the center depth chart and won't see much action this year.

Zhou Qi (left ankle sprain) remains out against the Mavs on Saturday.

Qi has only played one total minute for the Rockets this year so there is no fantasy impact whatsoever. We should note that he is putting up decent numbers in the G-League with 11.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.1 blocks and 1.6 triples after seven games with the only downside being his 36.4 percent shooting from the free-throw line. His three-point percentage (36.7) is actually higher.

Zhou Qi (left knee sprain) is out on Wednesday.

Qi has been dealing with a sprained ankle and knee for most of camp and the preseason. Even upon his return, whenever that comes, he is not part of Houston's rotation and is not on the fantasy radar.

Zhou Qi will not play in Wednesday's season opener.

Qi has been dealing with a sprained left ankle since training camp. He's shaping up as the fourth center on the roster and would need a few developments to go his way before he can even think about getting close to the fantasy radar.

Zhou Qi left Tuesday's preseason game with a left knee injury and did not return.

Qi left in a wheelchair and hopefully he's okay, but this injury won't have any real impact on the Rockets rotation.

Zhou Qi has been upgraded to questionable for Tuesday's preseason game as he deals with an ankle sprain.

Qi dealt with a sprained ankle for most of training camp and is buried on the depth chart. He had a productive Summer League, but will most likely spend most of the season in the G-League.

Zhou Qi will be out this week with a sprained ankle and will likely miss some preseason games.

Qi is buried on the Rockets depth chart and will likely spend time in the G-League this year. The big man did have a solid Summer League showing so maybe we will see him at the end of some Rockets blowouts this season.

It was reported Thursday that Zhou Qi would not be available to start training camp for the Rockets.

Qi is just another depth option at center for the Rockets so this isn't a huge blow to the squad going towards the season. Clint Capela will dominate minutes at center so unless something major happens to him, Qi doesn't see relevant time.
