Zhou Qi

  • Zhou Qi - F/C - Houston Rockets

The Rockets have waived Zhou Qi.

Qi has a fun skillset as a center who can protect the rim and bomb away from deep but he simply hasn't developed as the Rockets would've hoped. They need immediate help given their roster core and Qi's spot can be better-served by adding a player who is more than a pure project. He figures to get some nibbles on the open market but it's possible he heads overseas to get more substantial playing time.

  • Zhou Qi - F/C - Houston Rockets

Zhou Qi (left ankle sprain) remains out against the Mavs on Saturday.

Qi has only played one total minute for the Rockets this year so there is no fantasy impact whatsoever. We should note that he is putting up decent numbers in the G-League with 11.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.1 blocks and 1.6 triples after seven games with the only downside being his 36.4 percent shooting from the free-throw line. His three-point percentage (36.7) is actually higher.

Zhou Qi will not play in Wednesday's season opener.

Qi has been dealing with a sprained left ankle since training camp. He's shaping up as the fourth center on the roster and would need a few developments to go his way before he can even think about getting close to the fantasy radar.

Qi left in a wheelchair and hopefully he's okay, but this injury won't have any real impact on the Rockets rotation.

Zhou Qi has been upgraded to questionable for Tuesday's preseason game as he deals with an ankle sprain.

  • Zhou Qi - C - Houston Rockets

Zhou Qi was dusted off in Tuesday's road win, picking up a rebound and three blocks in just five minutes of work.

Qi could become a cult hero if the Rockets rest Clint Capela tomorrow. The 7'1" center can obviously rack up swats in a hurry and his 3-point ability makes him a perfect fit for this offense, even if key cogs get Wednesday off. Here's hoping we get a fun story to cover this time tomorrow.
